Malnad College of Engineering Hassan (MCE) came into existence in the year 1960 during the time when 2nd 5 year plan was going on. The college was started with a joint venture of Government of Karnataka, Government of India & Malnad Technical Education Society in Hassan city of Karnataka state. This college is now one of the reputed colleges in the state of Karnataka as well as in the nation. The college has been awarded ISTE award as the best college in the field of engineering in India in the year 2007. This college is located in between Bangalore and Mangalore on the national highway in Hassan the head quarters of the district. The climate in this region of the state very good as it is very near to the Western Ghats. The weather is very much good from health point of view. The coffee estates are very much near from this region in Saklespur, which a relaxation the students who are studying here. This region receives an annual rainfall of 950 mm. The famous Halebidu, Belur & Shravanabelagola temples which are known all over the world are very much near from this place and are located in this district only.
